ABOUT STATE REPRESENTATIVE VANESSA CASTON LAFLEUR

Vanessa Caston LaFleur is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is married to Brian LaFleur, I and is the proud mother of Sydney Alexandra LaFleur and Brian J. LaFleur, II. LaFleur earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Southern University A&M College in 1990 and a Juris Doctor, with honors, from Southern University Law Center in 1993.
LaFleur was elected to represent District 101 in the Louisiana House Of Representatives during a special election in the Spring of 2022 and was re-elected in 2023. She serves as the Vice Chair of the Administration of Criminal Justice Committee. She also serves as a member of the Appropriations Committee, Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget and the Judiciary Committee. Her term expires in 2028.

The Council of State Governments has announced that State Representative Vanessa Caston LaFleur has been selected to participate in the 2024 CSG Henry Toll Fellowship. Bringing together 49 individuals representing 34 states and U.S. territories and all three branches of state government, the Henry Toll Fellowship is the nation’s premier leadership development program for state government officials.
